This gathering will feature,

Interactive Torah Study Using Multiple Humash (Pentateuch) Commentaries.

Led by Rabbi Dov Gartenberg, Convener, Shabbat with Friends NM

Topic: Explore with the 34th chapter of Exodus where Moshe requests to see God's Face. Examine Judaism's unique insights about the distance between God and human beings. Question: Does Jewish Tradition Discourage Closeness to God?

Please bring a favored Humash if you have one at home. We will have extra copies for those who don’t.  This is an excellent opportunity to be introduced to classic Jewish Torah study.  For questions contact, Rabbi Dov Gartenberg at dov@shabbatwithfriends.org or 505 582-9577.

Helpful Information about this Shabbat Gathering:

Who is this for? SWF Shabbat gatherings come in all sorts of formats. This format is adult centric. Children are welcome, but we cannot provide organized parallel children’s activities at this gathering.

We welcome all backgrounds to our Shabbat with Friends Gatherings. If you are coming for the first time, feel free to contact our Lead Convener, Rabbi Dov Gartenberg, who can describe the event and help you to feel welcomed and comfortable.

Pre-Registration: The in-person gathering is free and open to the community, but please preregister before Shabbat. We only announce the address of the host to registrants on the Friday prior to Shabbat. If you are coming in-person, please choose a potluck item when you register.

Zoom Option: SWF will make the Torah study and Havdalah from 6-7 available on a live Zoom broadcast. If you plan to attend via Zoom, choose the Zoom option in the registration.  The Zoom link will be sent to you on the Friday before the gathering.

Carpool Option. Some folks who want to attend cannot drive at night or do not have a vehicle. We would like to match folks with vehicles with people who need rides. Please choose in the registration 1. Willingness to provide carpool or 2. Need for a ride to and from the gathering. Please sign up by the prior Wednesday to allow SWF time to organize the carpools.
