Interested in volunteering for Shabbat with Friends?

We have three specific ways to get involved:

1. Hosting a Musical Shabbat Circle

Hosting a Musical Shabbat Circle is a wonderful way to share a joyful Shabbat with friends and new faces.  We are there to help whether you have never done a home Shabbat event or you are an experienced Shabbat host. Hosting is easy to setup with our team. The Shabbat with Friends Ensemble including Rabbi Dov comes prepared to share great Jewish music and to inspire group singing.  Schedule with us a Shabbat date in the future: a Friday evening, Shabbat lunch, or end of Shabbat, and invite your friends to join you. A Musical Shabbat Circle can include a meal such as a potluck or it can take place after mealtime with nosh. Perform the mitzvah of 'hachnasat orchim' (literally “welcoming guests”) while also experiencing an authentic Shabbat fellowship at your home. 2. Organizational Volunteers

Organizational volunteers perform a variety of tasks including moderation for Zoom meetings and classes, administrative data entry, and helping plan and publicize events and campaigns for Shabbat with Friends. If you have talent in any of those areas or are excited to help out and learn, please contact Sarah Arrowsmith, our lead volunteer, at saraha@shabbatwithfriends.org.

3. Volunteer for the Shabbat with Friends Singing Core, AKA Musical Gabbaim

We invite volunteers to sing with the Shabbat with Friends Ensemble for the purpose of creating communal musical energy, not to create musical perfection. Volunteer musical gabbai are not just responsible for singing, but for paying close attention to the cues and direction of the ensemble. It’s also an excellent way to absorb our rich treasury of Jewish music. Our Musical Shabbat Tables isn’t a performance, it’s a community effort to which each of the singing core contributes. Musical Gabbaim will be invited to ensemble rehearsals and to future Musical Shabbat Tables. To volunteer for the Singing Core write to dov@shabbatwithfriends.org.
