Rabbi Dov Gartenberg
Rabbi Dov Gartenberg is the Director of Shabbat with Friends. He was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and is a member of the Rabbinical Assembly of Conservative Judaism. He has served as a congregational rabbi and a leader of the groundbreaking Jewish nonprofit, Panim Hadashot - New Faces of Judaism in Seattle, Washington. Shabbat with Friends NM is a new initiative which builds on lessons learned by Rabbi Gartenberg from his years leading Panim Hadashot. Rabbi Dov is also a member of the SWF Ensemble (see below).

Shabbat with Friends Leadership Team
Ruth Ma’ayan is an alumna of both Hebrew University in Jerusalem and University of New Mexico with degrees in music, dance education, and physical therapy. She has lived in Albuquerque since 1987 and has been an active member of Chavurat Hamidbar for 35 years. She is one of the organizers of an Albuquerque Hug Ivrit, a circle of people who enjoy conversing in Hebrew.
Shera Farkas volunteers as coordinator of Shabbat with Friends Gatherings. She directly supports hosts, organizes the potlucks, communicates with guests, and organizes children's activities including those of her grandchildren, Ethan and Emma. Photo to arrive soon.

Lea Koshkin was born and raised in Israel and served in the IDF as a teacher. After moving to California, Lea began a career as a nurse practitioner. Lea and her family moved to New Mexico three years ago, becoming an active member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Albuquerque. She volunteers as a Hebrew teacher. Lea and her family, Ilya, Julia, and Daniel were one of the first SWF hosts, welcoming people to their home for a Havdalah and Melaveh Malkeh (End of Shabbat Gathering) in May 2022.
Mahrinah Shije has two decades of experience in Global Development, High Tech Startups, Venture Capital, and Multi-Lateral Diplomacy. She holds a BA and MS in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of Business. Mahrinah is a current 2022 Fellow at Leadership New Mexico, VC Lab (Palo Alto) and the Nahum Goldmann International Fellowship. Mahrinah is Tewa and Sefardi and married into the Pueblo of Zia with one daughter, Salomé.
