The 2022-2023 New Mexico Miller Introduction to Judaism Program
Shabbat with Friends NM is excited to announce the 3rd year the New Mexico Miller Introduction to Judaism Program to serve the Albuquerque area the Southwest region (by remote connection). This program, developed by American Jewish University in Los Angeles, offers an experiential and engaging, welcoming and meaningful learning path for those considering conversion to Judaism, who are in an interfaith relationship, who wish to deepen their Jewish knowledge, commitment, and identification, or who are otherwise curious about Judaism.
The hallmark of this program is that people come from all backgrounds and all walks of life. What brings people together in this course of study are participants’ curiosity and desire to learn, to dive deep into Jewish tradition, heritage culture and ideas. Participants come to understand the most powerful Jewish concepts and practices that give life meaning and a strong sense of belonging.
Shabbat with Friends NM is dedicated to welcoming newcomers of all backgrounds to the Jewish way of life through this program. The sessions are taught with depth, humor, and a cascade of insights. The lead teacher, Rabbi Dov Gartenberg, studied comparative religions at Berkeley and Harvard. He was trained for the rabbinate at the American Jewish University in Los Angeles and the Jewish Theological Seminary in Manhattan. He a member of the Rabbinical Assembly of America. He has taught introduction courses his whole career, helping hundreds of students in their Jewish journeys.
Since 1986, the Miller Introduction to Judaism Program has engaged nearly fifteen thousand students and helped welcome nearly five thousand converts to the Jewish People.

Program Information
The 2022-2023 New Mexico Miller Introduction to Judaism program begins on Wednesday Evening September 14, 2022 from 7:00 to 8:30 at a location to be announced. The program course runs weekly on Wednesdays through May 17, 2023 for a total of 35 hours of instruction. Persons can join the program as in-person or remote participants.
