Shabbat with Friends Gathering in Santa Fe Hosted by Alex and Gabrielle Simon

Dear Friends of SWF,

Like every Shabbat with Friends gathering, we will celebrate with a participatory Shabbat feast. We will enjoy an evening of singing and storytelling with the music of Santa Fe musician and member of the SWF Oneg Shabbos Ensemble, Jordan Wax (accordion). Rabbi Dov will provide the song leading, and our host, Alex Simon will add guitar. Many of you will remember the great SWF gathering at the Simon's home back in February. This should be as beautiful and spirited evening of Shabbat joy.

The Simon’s address is given out after registration is completed through the Punchbowl invitation link below. The link below takes you to Punchbowl potluck application to pick a dish that you would prefer to bring. You can also choose a small role in the Seder, order of Shabbat rituals for the evening. We view Shabbat with Friends as a cooperative, encouraging everyone to participate, volunteer, and enhance the evening with personal offerings.

We ask everyone attending to contribute to the potluck. To respect basic kosher practices, please bring only vegetarian, vegan, or pareve items. Please choose at least one item from the list. If you are a party of three or larger, select two food items. Please sign up no later than at the end of Thursday evening, June 22nd.

During the spring and summer when our gatherings begin just prior to the onset of Shabbat, we practice the Jewish custom of collecting tzedaka a before "bench licht" (candle lighting). Our hosts would like to designate the money you put in the pushka to the Interfaith Community Shelter at Pete's Place. The funds collected will be delivered after Shabbat during the following week. Our hosts have also dedicated the Shabbat gathering in memory of Gabriella's grandfather, Charles Sonabend.

On the Punchbowl invitation there is an opportunity to give a donation to Shabbat with Friends. Shabbat with Friends pioneers presenting a Judaism that is characterized by hospitality, joyfulness, and inclusiveness. Your support helps SWF to attract outstanding musical talent, to organize great programming, and connect Jews from all backgrounds.
