Signature Shabbat with Friends Gatherings

Musical Shabbat Gatherings
These gatherings draw from the vast Jewish and Sabbath songbook to bring people together for spirited singing and festive meals. Participants experience the joy, warmth, and uplift that come from sharing music around the Shabbat table.

Taste of Shabbat Gatherings
The joyful celebration and sharing of Sabbath (Shabbat in Hebrew) meals has been a beloved practice of Jewish homes for over 2000 years. At Shabbat with Friends (SWF) we hold a Sabbath meal in which we share the origins and meaning of these ancient traditions to create the possibility of fellowship in a time of rancor and polarization.
A Sabbath Seder consists of the order of rituals of a sacred meal that occurs during the Sabbath day (Friday eve, Saturday lunch, or late afternoon) SWF Convener, Rabbi Dov Gartenberg, explains the rituals and reveals their beauty and relevance for our generation.
We welcome people from all backgrounds and anyone who is curious about this ancient practice of hospitality, spirituality, and conviviality.
The Taste of Shabbat gatherings are posted on the Calender/RSVP page and occur frequently over the calendar year in either Albuquerque or Santa Fe. SWF provides a kosher catered meal for adults, with discounts for children, students, and seniors.

Shabbat Circles: Small Groups, Shared Passions
SWF is launching a new initiative to help people form Shabbat Circles—small, emerging groups that gather on Shabbat around a shared interest. A Shabbat Circle might focus on singing, hiking, reading, or engaging in thoughtful conversation. We also support circles organized around life stages, such as early adulthood, young families, or empty nesters. These intimate groups create supportive spaces for people to experience Shabbat in ways that feel meaningful and relevant to their lives.
Below is a listing of newly formed SWF Shabbat Circles
Young Families Shabbat Circle: This circle is for parents with children aged 0-5 years. The circle gathers once a month on Shabbat afternoon to share a meal, sing, do a family activity, and get to know other Jewish families. Contact Rabbi Dov to learn more and be invited to the next Shabbat circle.
If you are interested in the circle above or are interested in initiating a new Shabbat Circle, please contact Rabbi Dov Gartenberg at dov@shabbatwithfriends.org.
