Shabbat with Friends New Mexico (SWF) is delighted to announce that we have received a grant from the Hadar Institute’s Community Groups Initiative to establish a Nigun Song Circle in New Mexico.
A Nigun Song Circle brings people together to sing nigunim—Jewish spiritual, wordless melodies—and other songs from the Jewish liturgical tradition. Nigunim (plural of nigun) first flourished in the Hasidic world of the 18th century, and today they are experiencing a creative revival through the work of artists such as Joey Weisenberg, Rabbi Shefa Gold, and many others.
