We gather at the Keshet Center for the Arts for an Erev Shabbat of Feasting, Singing, and Dancing featuring beloved Israeli dances tied to Jewish folk music. We start with an Erev Shabbat potluck dinner followed by a session of singing and dancing with the live music of the Oneg Shabbos Ensemble.

About the event
Shabbat with Friends offers a unique Shabbat experience that cultivates the unique joy of the 7th day in Jewish tradition. We call this Shabbat gathering "A gathering of feasting, singing, and dancing." Many Israeli folk dances are originally melodies sung around the Shabbat table. Accompanied by Clara Byom on accordion and Issa Noor on drums, and Rabbi Dov on vocals, the Oneg Shabbos Ensemble leads us in singing several beautiful melodies. Then our Israeli dance teachers, Ruthie Maayan and Joy Rosenberg teach us the dances that were created in the 1930s and 1940s based on these melodies which are now popular Israeli folk dances.
We'll start the evening with a festive Shabbat potluck dinner featuring middle eastern dishes brought by us, the participants.
This event is free and open the community. Donations in support of Shabbat with Friends NM are welcome. Contributions are voluntary and at the participants discretion.
