About Torah with Friends
Torah with Friends is the Shabbat with Friends umbrella for the variety of Torah study experiences we offer our community. All our Torah study programs take place on Shabbat, when Jewish tradition regards Torah learning as a form of Oneg Shabbat (Sabbath delight).
Our goal is to bring insight, inspiration, and wisdom to participants. We also emphasize havruta learning, the ancient Jewish practice of studying sacred texts with a partner, which encourages meaningful discussion and deeper understanding.
Studying the weekly Torah portion is one of the oldest and most accessible forms of Jewish learning. We draw on multiple translations and commentaries to highlight the richness and diversity of Torah interpretation. Participants of all backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome.
