On the Rediscovered Klezmer Music from Early 20th Century Ukraine

Selections from the SWF/Klezmer Institute SWFG in Santa Fe on January 20, 2024.

Many of you have heard or attended the magical Shabbat gathering with the Klezmer Institute on January 20th in Santa Fe called the Lost Klezmer Music of Ukraine. Christina Crowder, the Executive Director of the Klezmer Institute, has shared links with us of the music we heard from the Saul An-ski expeditions to record Jewish folk music in Ukraine between 1912-1914. Several songs were shared with us by the Zamler Ensemble (Jordan Wax and Clara Byom, and Christina) in the home of Bette Evans and Mike Makoid in Santa Fe.

Thanks to so many in the community who supported this beautiful gathering. Enjoy this beautiful and haunting music Christina has brought to us. SWF will continue to share these niggunim at future gatherings.
